Companionship Care — Friendly Faces, Meaningful Visits
Loneliness shouldn't be part of growing older. Our companionship carers bring conversation, warmth, and gentle support into the home — through friendly visits, longer sits, and accompanied outings that keep life full, connected, and meaningful.

Is This Right for You?
Who Our Companionship Care Service Supports
Companionship care helps a wide range of people — from those who simply want some company a few times a week, to families who need longer cover and reassurance.
Older Adults Living Alone
Living alone can be quiet — too quiet. Our companionship visits bring conversation, warmth, and a familiar friendly face into the home on a regular basis.
Recently Bereaved
After the loss of a partner or close family member, even simple days can feel long. We offer gentle, patient companionship to ease the transition back to a daily rhythm.
Housebound or Limited Mobility
If getting out has become difficult, isolation can quickly follow. Our carers bring the outside world in — and where possible, support short trips out together.
Family Carer Relief
When the family carer needs a few hours to rest or catch up on errands, our companion carer steps in — providing safe, attentive company while you take a proper break.
How It Works in Practice
Friendly Visits, Long Sits & Accompanied Outings
Three flexible visit types — used alone or combined — covering everything from a quick check-in to a full day of company.
Long Sits

- ✓Supervised time with reassuring company through the afternoon
- ✓Help with light tasks around the home
- ✓Watching a film or favourite TV programme together
- ✓Continuous calm presence for someone with dementia
- ✓Regular wellbeing checks throughout the sit
What We Provide
What Is Included in Companionship Care
Every visit is shaped around the person — but here is what can be included, depending on your plan and your preferences.
Regular short or longer visits built around the person's preferred days and times, with a familiar named carer.
Extended 3–8 hour visits providing reassuring presence, conversation, and supervision throughout the day.
Safe, supportive trips out for shopping, appointments, social events, or simply a change of scene.
Re-engaging with reading, music, knitting, gardening, puzzles, baking, or any activity the person enjoys.
Reading post, writing replies, making phone calls, or sending emails — keeping the person connected and on top of things.
Eating alone is one of the loneliest things; we cook, plate up, and eat together when invited.
Looking through old photos, sharing stories, and bringing memories to life through gentle, patient conversation.
Watchful, caring observation of mood, appetite, energy, and any small changes — flagged to family where needed.
Help feeding, walking, or grooming a beloved pet that the person can no longer fully manage alone.
Support to maintain contact with family by phone, video call, or letter — and to attend community events when possible.
Calm, structured presence for those living with dementia — orienting, reassuring, and gently engaging.
Patient, sensitive company through grief — listening more than talking, never rushing.
How We Work
Companionship That Feels Like a Friendship
Real connection cannot be scheduled — but it can be made far more likely. Here is how we approach companionship care at Carlisle Care.
Genuine Connection
Companionship only works when the person and carer truly get on. We match carefully — by personality, interests, and shared sense of humour — so every visit feels like seeing a friend.
The Same Familiar Face
Companionship is built on consistency. We keep the same small team in place wherever possible, so trust and warmth grow naturally over weeks and months.
Person-Led, Always
Every visit follows what the person feels like that day — a chat, a walk, a game of cards, or simply being together in a quiet room. There is no script.
Family Kept in the Loop
We share regular updates with the family — how visits are going, how mood and wellbeing seem, and anything worth knowing — so loved ones at a distance can feel close.
“Mum had become so quiet after Dad passed. Now her carer comes twice a week — they go for a walk, do a crossword, and laugh together. She lights up when she hears the door. It has made all the difference.”→ Read More Family Reviews
